What is coaching? Can I really change through coaching?

Top sports athletes have a coach to bring out the best in their performance. High-end executives and CEOS have their own coaches to push their work to new heights. Even doctors are now reaching out to mentors and coaches, to challenge them and enhance their growth. The growth gained through the coaching process is what facilitates the enormous change and impact on your life…. And due to the ripple effect, often even far beyond the situation, issue you are facing and being coached on.
 
The art of coaching is for someone external to what you are facing, your circumstance, situation, issue, to help you with asking the right questions, or use the right techniques, methodologies to help you find the way through. Although, we can't do the work for you, with the right coach you will have the helping hand to assist with getting you through that storm, so you can get to the sunny shores on the other side.

How long will it take for me to see a change?

The time frame can vary greatly and depends on a wide range of factors: your goals, your commitment and openness to change, your capacity for introspection, your circumstances, how quickly and thoughtfully you complete homework assignments, and other unique factors.
 
We have individuals who come in for a very brief engagement (e.g., one mock interview coaching session).  We have others who come in focused on one goal, achieve that goal, and begin work on another goal and then another. Those individuals who partner with us in multiple capacities and for multiple goals have worked with us for a year or more!

How do I know if I am the right client for CLARA & CALMA?

Coaching is a two-way street, so in understanding that, at CLARA & CALMA you will fit right in if:
 • You are open for discussion, willing to share, open to owning your own contribution to your current situation, and most importantly, open to change
 • Your willingness to learn and grow is directly related to how far you can reach with our coaching
 • You have made the decision to get out of your current situation and will be committed to working hard to get to a far better place on the other side

What is the free “coffee chat” for?

Accepted Answer

This is a free 30-minute consultation where we can talk to you about what it is that you are wanting to work on. This is also a great opportunity for you to get to know us, our style, our approach and you can get a feel for whether you would like to work with us. It is also a chance for us to get to know you – so that we can recommend the right package to work on your goals, issues, etc. If they sit outside our specialty we will certainly recommend colleagues who may be better suited for you.

What if I don't know what kind of coaching package I want?

You have the option of purchasing directly from the website, or booking a free chat with Shannon, to discuss and ask any questions you may have to see if this is a right fit for you, and also if it is a right fit for Clara & Calma….. sometimes we know someone better qualified for your situation and can recommend them to you. Our coaching pricing, packages, and details are listed on the Sessions page and are loaded with life challenges and career-changing support to bring you clarity, purpose, and fulfillment. What's the difference between Clara Coaching Packages & Calma Coaching packages?

CLARA & CALMA address both areas of our expertise – so we have named our packages so as to streamline them for you, based on what you want to work on. You may even need to work on both to really achieve or be what it is that you want to be.
 
CLARA (in Spanish, means, clear or clarity). So it only seems befitting to have the CLARA packages focussing on finding clarity with your Job Search, Career, Direction and Purpose.
 
CALMA (in Spanish means Calm). Life’s challenges tend to take us away from the calm. So CALMA packages are to provide you with a safe, calm retreat from your life, where you can put in the hard work to change your current situation. There you can allow me to guide you to a place of calm on the other side of understanding and enlightening you about how to navigate this challenge.  here are a few exampleso fo life’s challenges that may be troubling you: How you feel about situations and or relationships at the moment or issues from the past that you cant let go, how you feel about yourself and those around you, and also very common things like issues with confidence, procrastination, rejection, self-love, comparison, and decision making.

Where would I meet with my coach? Do you offer online coaching?

In order to make coaching as convenient as possible for you, we offer both in-person and online. Most clients, both domestic and international, prefer to work with us online for ease of time and flexibility - but there are some CLARA (javascript:void(0))packages for New Zealand clients where the initial session works better face-to-face while working on career focussed goals.

What coaching techniques and methodologies do you use in your sessions?

The foundation of our coaching incorporates these primary styles:
 
Solution Focussed Coaching: Although the change in individuals is often measured on a behavioural basis, real change happens below the surface on a deeper level. Developing your self-awareness, looking at your perspective on the challenge and how you observe and react – reframing through a variety of techniques (mentioned below) can produce fundamental paradigm shifts that can bring about deep change and have an enormous impact on all areas of your life through internal growth.
 
Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP): Neurolinguistic Programming, sounds fancy, yet broken down is the study of how communicative skills can impact in a positive and therapeutic way, our brain's ability to process and influence our own behaviour. It is the study of how to achieve true success and excellence.
It allows us to work on the following three main questions that work well across most clients issues that they present with:
 
PURPOSE & GOALS: What do you really want in life? How to bring the focus to what we do want and not what we don’t want.
 
OBSTACLES: How to get rid of the barriers, conflicts, or obstacles that prevent you from getting there.
 
THE HOW: How do you make what you want to happen?
 
Timeline Therapy and Hypnotherapy: Current thinking in Psychology generally agrees that we all have a Conscious Mind and an Unconscious Mind. Naturally, you are very conscious of what you are thinking of, your conscious mind, whilst your Unconscious Mind is the part of you that runs your body. It allows you to breathe while you sleep. It makes your heart beat. It causes your nerves to send information along the neural pathways. The Unconscious Mind is the source of the intelligence of your body and Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy allow you to the Unconscious Mind to align with the area in your life that you would like to change for the better.
 
Making a change in our attitudes, beliefs, and values is not easy for most people to do because they approach the change consciously. But for a change to happen it needs a two-pronged approach to both the conscious mind and the unconscious mind.
Hypnosis facilitates that by making the Unconscious Mind more open to suggestions from the Hypnotist or even by you.
 
Today hypnosis is a credible, scientifically-based process for successfully creating change at the unconscious level.
 
Empathy vs Challenging You: Empathy is an extremely important attribute to have as a coach and it’s important to understand where our clients are when they work with us. This does not mean though, that we won't be pushing you into where you will grow the most. So honest, deep diving, and challenging conversations, when needed, will certainly be had.
 
Holistic: While we may focus our work in a very targeted way to assist you in your coaching package, our coaching approach and lens are holistic, integrative, and systemic. We know that a change you make in one area often influences and impacts another. We understand that once the underpinnings of a particular challenge are unearthed and effectively dealt with, it can have a domino effect, positively impacting many areas of your life. Then, the result is a true, real and lasting change, not just a superficial fix.
